Another Patriot rack on the bay.
Just noticed this on eBay looks good value was almost tempted to the buy it now button but on a closer look at the photo the luggage rails look wrong and the ladder appears different good value all the same as I've just payed £900 for mine.

I thought that the patriot had a split (two) side rail to allow for flex? That one has one continues rail. Can't remember if the very early ones had that or not.

Yep mine has the split side rail and the luggage rail mounts are staggered, them ones look inline with the roof supports and the profile of the ladder is totally different to any I've seen Confused The guy states in the ad it's about a year old I'm not convinced? Formerly mao99999

It also looks as if it has been re powder coated as the bolt heads are black - I think these come as ally as standard?

My opinion?

It is not a Patriot rack

Reasons being as follows

a) Buy it now price of £495?? Either the rack is not Patriot or a motor dealer has no idea what a Patriot rack is worth second hand. £750 would be cheap for a complete 110 Patriot rack

b) Front of luggage rail is wrong

c) Luggage rail supports are in the wrong place. On genuine Patriot rack the supports are off set from the legs

d) The stainless clamps on a Patriot powder coated rack are powdered coated

e) The bolts holding the rack together on a Patriot rack are bare stainless. OK it might be size of photo which does not show bolt size up

e) Shape of ladder is wrong. The Patriot ladder comes out horizontal from rack and has about 3" radius curve and is then vertical

f) Manufacturer is Land Rover!!

IF he is selling a genuine Patriot rack he has put wrong photo up. Apart from physical differences between that rack and a genuine Patriot a motor dealer putting a buy it now price of at least £300 less then its market value Rolling with laughter

There again I could be completely wrong

Definitely not Patriot's current design. As Brendan says - the rail supports are offset from the main rack supports.

Also, the Patriot sloping side rails have a much steeper angle (about 45 deg). They have a radius to them and terminate about 10cm from the top - these are over a foot long!

I think a question to the seller as to the unique Patriot code number stamped on the rack would be in order before anyone parts with cash One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

This rack was relisted as a Patriot type rack and sold for £400.

Must admit I do not like some of the tactics used on ebay such as listing roof racks as Patriot when they are not, then relisting it as Patriot type.

Ditto Anderson type connectors when they are not Andersons.

Jump/booster leads which do not state what the conducting core is, what CSA they are and the continuous current rating is shall we say is fictional to put it mildly. 8 AWG can handle 600 amps continuously Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

PS If you do not know what 8 AWG is look it up Razz

I thought us more civilised British people used mm2 rather than AWG? Being a spark for 14 years I would struggle to know what 8 AWG was but can visualise 16mm2.

Yanks just spoil engineering, afte all every tool is a wrench!

8 AWG is ca.8.4mm2!

Have a look at these 800 amp jump At 800 amps those clips would explode and the wires would melt! There again they might be made from Kryptonite!
