Bought a month or so ago with the intention of restoring it, done 157k miles, 3 owners from new, will need full restoration,
Major things I reckoned it would need either replacing or major repairs: Chassis 5 doors interior re-trim Bulkhead would repair rear tub repairs full set of hinges etc etc Engine and gearbox seem good, we drove it 150 miles ish back from Scotland with no issues. It has around 10 months MOT. This is a genuine 50th anniversary heritage, looking for offers around £8500. https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...G_0747.JPG https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...G_0750.JPG https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...G_0748.JPG https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...G_0751.JPG [/img] Last edited by Windyhill on 30th Jan 2017 4:09pm. I know you say the chassis needs replacing, do you mean to restore to showroom, or for safety reasons?
And same question on the bulkhead and tub repairs. Don't suppose you've got any more photos? Might give people a better idea of how much work would be involved. Good luck with the sale! |

Sorry, being a bit pedantic... it is not a 50th Anniversary. It is a Heritage - two different things. The 50th was the V8 90 sold in 1998, this is a Heritage Limited Edition as you say from 2000 (although you say 2000 X reg in your ad, but it is wearing a W - which could make it a 1999). Actually rarer than the 50th, with only 150 110's being built (compared to 1071 50ths, of which 385 were in the UK) (Source Dunsfold Collection) GLWS |

Ok, I was under the impression that the Heritage was produced to celebrate the 50th Anniversary as well as the 50th. I'm sure I'd read it somewhere.
Edited the reg. Cheers |

Some honest photos there, it would be quite a take on.
However, it is indeed a fairly rare variant and should easily make twice the asking once restored. Current Steeds: 2015 110 UW in Grasmere Green 2003 BMW F650 the Hack 2000 Elise 1992 Ducati 888 (no longer in bits, yahoo) 1990 TDR 250 (in bits again) 1988 TDR 250 (no longer in bits) and for sale |

If you got twice the asking price once its restored.......In my experience you'd be still well out of pocket, if you were to restore it properly that is.
Looking at the pictures and the amount of visible corrosion, once you lift body off it gets a whole lot worse, I reckon you would need to put at least 10k into that, allowing for doing most of the work yourself !! You would have a very nice rare defender when finished......I would love to take it on but the numbers just don't add up for me... N. |
