I have the puma version of this. Does what it says on the tin - it's heavy and cumbersome but that's what you want. Its another layer of security. Covers the pedals up to where they disappear into the bulkhead which I think is better design than the bar types (clutch claw etc) as those ones the scumbags can cut the pedal arm to release and still drive. To do that with these means cutting the pedals right off.

Yep I use one on the 90 td5 version covers pedals well good and solid like it.

I use one along with a disklock as well. Belt and braces.
In answer to your question, yes I would buy one again (though it will probably last longer than the Defender!). Hard to say how effective it is as luckily I have never had it or the truck tampered with.

It's a bit awkward to get on at first, but with a bit of practice, it gets quicker. It's a pain in the arse when it's raining.

As Froglaise says, it's a hell of a lump and mine is connected to a pvc protected chain and caribeaner which in turn is through one of the lashing eyes in the back of my USW when being driven. Plenty of posts on here about these things flying around in the event of an accident.

i tried one but have swapped to using ardcase ones as they are smaller and easier to store when not in use.

One of the most popular pedal locks (not mentioned) on the market uses a very poor lock. Just a simple cheap lock welded on from your local general store. Check out the actual locks themselves on the product, talk to the makers, some of the locks themselves cost the company a hefty percentage of the purchase price!

Hi.

I use a Shire pedal lock on a TD5. My method is the Shire lock is kept at home , fitted every evening, along with a X engineering twistlock thingy on the gear stick.( plus other things) which is kept with the truck at all times and fitted when ever the truck is left unattended, no matter even if its popping into a shop for a quick purchase. The Shire fab pedal lock is cumbersome and really do not want it flying about in the case of an incident. I like it and its well made, thought the paint is continually flaking off. it easy to fit once you get the knack..

Zag, and why not mention it? No reason not to do that I think.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you mean the Ardcase. I have one, and its ancient large type of simple key/key blade is not a thing of todays world anymore. Laughable actually.
I do like the practicality and the general built quality of the Ardcase, but as for the lock itself I can only hope that when the Ardcase is placed and locked over the pedals, it is in a rather awkward position to allow a potential thief who is in a rush to quickly pick its lock.

I have the Shire Fabrications Safe T Pedal on my TD5 in addition to other layers.

I'd buy the same again without hesitation. Thumbs Up

Heavy and cumbersome, yes, but you get used to it and after a big of practice you can fit it with one hand in quite a slick single movement. I fit it even when popping into shops etc.

Can't imagine it being easy to remove without the keys.

And with my preferred safe storage position in the rear, it's also perfect for keeping two 2 litre milk cartons upright and secure on the way back from the shop! Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up

As above really... I have a Safe-T-Pedal, (Angry Puma discount for £95 delivered). It is very heavy and cumbersome but once you have the knack is pretty easy to put on and off. It seems very robust and I've never seen mention of anyone having had it removed/defeated (unlike the Ardcase). Storage was very awkward until I fitted some seat rise, now tucks nicely under the middle row seats.

If I bought one again, I might consider the Ardcase, just becasue it is smaller to store and lighter to use, but is more expensive. Even though there are photos of one being removed it must still be a deterrent. Or the X-Eng hinged locking plate, if they make one for a Puma?
