well we have moved on a little bit, My replacement gear knob I bought, my dad ran a tap and die through it after finding what thread it was from his old one.
So now that's installed I can change gears with out the thing moving. So another box ticked for repairs. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

The only problem Procta is that how ever many boxes you tick the amount of boxes left never gets smaller 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Well today me and my dad fixed the electrical fault. We were just about to call it and look into running a replacement wiring.
When we decided to have a poke with the needle and a light on the wiring. just to see if there was a break (my dads idea) sure enough we started to make progress rapidly! We chased the power right to the head lining where there was a break, The connectors on the meeting looms had seen better days, They had rotted through. So we just shoved spade connectors on and boom we are in business! All in and working, so that's one major repair sorted out! Going to start on the rear door I think. But that's going to be a in a few stages. Electrical wire loom, Door card, and wheel swing. One pain in the arse out of the way like, I wasn't keen on pulling the car to bits to fit another wire really. but at least it turned out to be a rotten connector.
Going to move onto the rear door I think, so I can at least have a working wiper motor, Which I can see this one been fun too! My demister system sometimes works too. So looks like that could be either a new relay if it has one. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Well looks like my Rear damper has gave out on her, So looks like the rear door project I was going to do, maybe put on hold and suspension is the next move.
I am toying with the idea of comfort springs and standard dampers, with a front anti roll bar, and a rear one at some point. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

well lads I have just ordered the same setup as my dad. Terreferma suspension ( standard ride height) and poly bushes to go on the dampers too.
After looking at the prices of the comfort springs vs the full works, I have gone for the full works like my dad did. Due to Budget reasons, I need new wheels and tyres too so I can splash out on those. I have always liked the sawtooths since I saw a defender with them on in one of the landy mags, they really give a defender that extra bit of class I think. Also I am researching a carpet set and headlining too. just to make her more homely. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
