As far as I was aware you need 2 mirrors for MOT one of which has to be drivers side wing mirror. The screen is completely out of the swept area of the screen. Has been on there since new so had 3 MOTs like it and passed every one. 2009 2.4TDCi XS Utility Wagon.

I'd never come across this before so had to look it up. I didn't realise that the requirement had changed beyond the 'two mirror' rule, but it did for new vehicles on 26th Jan 2010. The requirement now is two external mirrors plus 1 internal 'unless the internal mirror cannot provide an adequate view to the rear'. Can't find an easy reference for 'adequate' though. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/syst...irrors.pdf Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? So mine being late 2009 is fine then? And considering I have a tyre and dog guard in the way, I can't see out the back anyway. 2009 2.4TDCi XS Utility Wagon.

Based on the date, yes.
If it were a later vehicle, I don't know whether the tyre and dog guard would mean it doesn't pass the 'adequate' test. If a golf sized car pulls up behind me I can't see it at all in the rear view so I think that is inadequate. 2009 2.4TDCi XS Utility Wagon.

It's a silly rule (thank you EU) and I have never heard of anyone falling foul of it, but it is best to know.
I have a solid flap on the IW canopy on my DC, so all I could see in the interior RVM was the reflection of headlights coming towards me reflected in the rear window of the cab! I removed the RVM and replaced with a MUD RAM mount ball, which isn't terribly useful but looks better than an empty mirror mount. |

Fitted one of these a few weeks ago triggered by the reverse gear switch, appears to work OK.
It's a Auto-Vox with a 4.3" LCD screen from amazon around £70. Fitted with a Discovery2 mirror bracket and a custom made fixing plate to the roof. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Only problem now I need to cut down the sun visors as they hit the mirror ! |

I looked at that type - they are good but move the mirror high up and were a bit more expensive. How are you finding it? Mike

Hi Mike
I'm very happy with the mirror up higher, gives better visibility, along with it's wider than the standard one and work well as a rear view mirror. Click image to enlarge |

Looks smart - mine is wider the standard - except its a little narrower than yours, if its the same specs i found
I didnt really want to drill anything which is why i liked mine - but it puts it in line with the original, which means the visors still work 90% the same as they did Did you power yours from the dash fuse box? Mike |

It's powered from a new fused circuit via a relay that's triggered by the reverse gear switch.
Using a independent power supply via a relay supposedly reduces any distortion of the image on the screen by interference from the reverse gear circuit. |

Ahh mine has its own wiring its only the camera that has a reverse trigger - would have made wiring easier . i need to turn the guidelines off it though - one of those jobs i never remember to do until reversing!!

Came across this one on amazon. Has the buttons on the front, however size may make it a little large for mounting in the OP location.
