Well, I know that installing the front ones on a 110 sure was a pain in me hands... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

I am replacing all 4 at the moment.
For the front ones if (like me) you need to cut one of the bolts you will need a riv nut tool. M6s and I'm hopping it will be done tomorrow. Fabio |

Hi all, thank you for your replies.
Not far from Bracknell- be good to meet other defender owners around the area. Just adding rears and they are OEM Land Rover with bolts supplied. Can only get 2 of the 3 bolts through the frame but the 2 are just not gripping. Have thought about a rivet tool and borrowing one st work as next option. Thanks |

I know the mudflaps can be a pain. They stay on good though.

If you are towing watch the o/s/r/ because for some reason if towing a large trailer or caravan, a vortex is created and the flap is pushed forward, catches the tyre and gets shredded. I have modified my rear ones to clip them backwards when doing big tows and no problem since 2015 Defender 110 XS Utility Santorini Black, sawtooth alloys, steps and so much more...........

We have a different issue in Aussie, with the 90......if ya sit on 100kph+, the mudflap is pushed up into the path of the hot exhaust gases (rear exit in Aussie), the consequence of which is,.....a melting mudflap! Pickles. |

I have only replaced the rear mud flaps so far. I replaced them with ones of the same fittings as LD.
There is a large hole in the chassis through which I could get a finger in and push an 8mm bolt through as my rivet nuts were useless I did not need to drill holes. My Defender is a 2009 and the mud flap brackets were falling off. At the body work end I used 8mm again with some large washers trimmed. That got the brackets fitted. The actual flaps I attached with 6mm screw and nuts with penny washers to stop the rubber from tearing. The flaps are still on and secure. |

I never used any rivnuts when adding my front mudflaps and brackets, just a lot of swearing and mumbling as i tryed to wedge my hand in the outrigger to get a bolt on. Plenty of perseverance and they were finally on. Not had an issue with them since and they have been fitted 12 month. As mentioned when attaching the mudflaps to the brackets plenty of washers were used as well. 110 Hard Top - Izmir Blue

I lost my original LR front mud guards last year while maneuevring in 50cm fresh snow. The LR bracket was just too weak and broke...didnt like it anyways, was ugly and rusty. So a bent two new brackets from 4mm steel amdonted them via 2 A2 8mm bolts to the original frame holes. As the old bolts were rusted I cut them. Here is the result
