ok lads, my 300 interior light isn't working at all, Looks like there isn't any power at all, I have just swopped it for a mud interior light, The old one had seen better days.
Any ideas on what the story could be? The system seems different to my dads 200, He has a switch for his interior light, and a fog stalk. Radio is on same fuse as interior light. Change the fuse first.

I will change that, but it didn't seem to be blown, Unless the one under the bonnet has gone, but then again no other systems are effected. My dad recons I check behind the 3 switch panel, His interior lamp is wired into there. But his is a 200, so the electrics I can see been different. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

If the interior light worked before you changed the fitting, then the fuse is the first thing to check. Fuses often fail, but look ok.
If you pulled out switches or changed the wiring, then you will need to check further with a multi meter. |

When removing the light it is possible you shorted the lamp contact to the base, there is a permanent live there so easily done 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Well lads me and my dad had a right old play for 3 hours. We checked all the 4 fuses in the engine bay and all is ok. We even checked fuse 2 and its spot on. We used an external 12v supply to check connections to the lamp and it works, the door switch system works too.
When we connected the car battery back on the light will not work, Looks like we have a main feed fault, Do these have an alarm system? The light never worked at all when I bought it, that's why I bought the mud light to replace it. Mind the original one has seen better days looking at it. On that age I'd imagine it may have a time delay Relay for the interior light.
It could be at fault or not recognise the load due to such low current draw. Have you tried the original fixture and testing for power, earth continuity etc etc? KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

we were using the mud unit, the old one looks well crusty, but we might get that going again if its cleanable. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Might be worth checking to see if the cable running up behind the interior trim on the A pillars has been crushed or damaged 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
