Its amazing what a semi faulty component can produce fault or driveability wise, Im glad you have found an answer to your problem.
It does go to show that young cars to have component failures that cause issues, and when those failures are found the difference to the car is outstanding. What are you doing with the old faulty maf ? id be interested in measuring its output compared to a new maf to see the % of difference that causes problems. £33 ish depending on where and who
![]() I wasn't going the LR route of just replace everything! So as the maf starts at £30...egr is around £50 and ill see...but at the moment I'm happy. I'll throw some additive in when I get home. Mike |

Pete At the moment it's in the car as an emergency spare. Happy if you want to have a play with it... Definitely getting between 3 and 5 mpg better...you can see it in the fuel needle with me even converting it (which I've done) The egr is my next, but that's to manage some logged faults. Mike |

If i can have a play with it ill send it back for your spare no problem after ive done some measurements.
Ill pay for the postage to send to me if you want to paypal me a request to bellautos@hotmail.com Id like to get to the bottom of these puma issues once and for all as i know im my heart of hearts the pumas components are the main problem to many standard cars and some as you are aware are my customers. Perfect thank you.
Im hoping to make a basic useable pcb that will measure the output of the maf and indicate with some LEDs the state it reaches when driving to try and advise the owner if the maf if weak or not. Pete |

Sounds a good project
I'm begging to think there is a state between new and working well and broken with maf's Be interesting o see as even 3/4mpg is significant...especially when mob on a puma can go lower than a 5l supercharged v8 sport! I'll email you when I'm back. Mike |

You are correct, their is a state when a maf can work but not fully or correctly. though when it works badly but is not short or open circuit for example it wont flag a fault in the pcm.
The TD5 is common for this and may only read EG up to 500 kg/flow but a good new one will read up to 660 ish at high rpm and max out at 720 where it would default back to 0kg/hr flow and put the car into a sort of limp mode where it will drink fuel and drive different to a fully working maf. The puma is in a simlar working range to this. Pete |

I should just say Scottish highland roads and leave it at that! But a mixture would be fair...complicated answer.. The two 29 ish returns first tank was after driving various tracks and main roads, some snow covered, speeds varying 50% varying between 30 and 40 climbing/descending the other 50/60mph twisting highland roads (and probably small amount of town). The second greater mileage covered 70% between 40 and 60 favouring 50-60 and the rest varying low speed tracks, dodgy roads and towns. I forced myself to fill at Tesco last night (8p saving per l) so I'll see next fueling. Does tha help? Mike |

Lorryman - Just checked my Road Lite application and on my 90 over the last 9,359 miles I have averaged 27.68 mpg!
