We use leggings with full-length zips (or fastenings) in the mountains especially in Winter as you can get them on and off over big boots with crampons...
Paramo Cascada are a perfect example - I use them a lot for winter mountaineering http://www.paramo-clothing.com/en-gb/explo...6BFE7B7BE5 They have full-lngth zips and poppers also so you can choose zipped-up for windproof or poppered (but unzipped) if you want to cool down. Perfick A quick application (wash) in Nikwax every few wearings... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Thanks muddybigdog that looks like the sort of thing would they be ok in brambles etc?
Thanks also to the rest of you. I should have said in the first post i will use them in rough cover beating and shooting so they will need to be tough. Thats why i have prefered stud on legging in wax cotton before |

@Fixit I personally don't own a pair, but looked at buying myself for exactly same thing, Seeland blurb say they are heavy duty and can cope with all types of vegetation, but it could be just marketing spin. I too would prefer waxed cotton, but it seems like major manufacturers only make leggings, which don't keep your arse dry in the long stuff and you end up looking like an extra from a John Wayne movie. I use Barbour treggings, and i'm glad they are "ass-less" as otherwise i'd have a boiled bum! They get pretty warm if you are beating a long drive.
I don't think anything other than waxed cotton can withstand the brambles & blackthorn. |

Maybe have a look at Fjallraven?
http://www.fjallraven.com/clothes/trousers...filter=Men I have 2 pairs. Thy G1000 fabric comes in grades including HEAVY. You can buy wax from them as well, and wax them as per a normal wax cotton jacket (i.e. Barbour).. I'm a big fan... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |
