Thanks Dorsetsmith, I'll pop it out tomorrow and have a ganders. Sorry for the stupid question but presume the pcb is the board inside the relay?

If you remove plastic case from the relay you see small PCB and the solder joints

I spoke too soon, the wipers have thrown a wobbly again.
Now there is no intermittent wipe and no continuous at the slower speed either, the relay does click when the stalk is moved but not always. Fast wipe works fine but when moved back to slow wipe the wipers stop wherever they are at the time. I had a spare stalk so tried that and it made no difference. Could it be the relay once again or the wiper park switch perhaps? |

I'd go for park switch, they are cheap and are usually the cause wiper problems Ray

Thanks Mk1collector, I swapped the park switch for a new one just now but that doesn't seem to have made any difference either sadly.
Having tested the 3 terminals on the output side of the park switch just now, with the wipers switched to slow speed i'm getting power on the red terminal and on high speed the yellow has power which leaves the blue as earth I presume? This makes me think that with power up to it being ok, the motor itself has a fault. Can anyone confirm my suspicions before I shell out for a new one? Thanks, Harry |

Have you tested the switch on the column? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I've not tested it but swapped it for a new one and the the wipers are still the same.
Given that power is being delivered to the motor by the fast and slow supplies (dependent on stalk setting) I presumed it was ok? Thanks, Harry |

If you disconnect the motor from the wiper wheel boxes then try to rotate the wipers do they feel seized? Ray

Thanks for your help guys
I pulled the wiper motor out with the drive cable, the spindles turn nicely and there is no damage to the cable itself. Having detached the cable from the motor and popping it back through the spindles, they turn fine as well so nothing untowards in there. I then circuit tested the 5 wires that go into the park switch as per Dorsetsmith's diagram and got the below results: Reciving Power N/Y Plug No Colour----------------Slow Speed--------Fast Speed---------Intermittent C0000-1 Black C0000-2 Brown / Green --------N--------------------N---------------------N C0000-3 Blue / Green --------N--------------------Y----------------------N C0000-4 White / Green ---------Y--------------------Y----------------------Y C0000-5 Red / Green ---------Y--------------------N----------------------Y It's interesting the C0000-2 never seems to get power? Had a look inside the wiper motor and the main drive cog looks messy/worn but it spins smoothly in fast speed. At slow speed the motor clunks and knocks in your hand. Slow speed only seems to engage once it's been moved to fast then back to slow and it randomly stops irrespective of where the park switch tells it to. It seems like there is a faulty connection or bush inside the motor given how much it bangs. Does this sound like it's time for a new motor? Harry |

There maybe someone local to you who can rebuild it. There is a company near me that repairs motors and they're quite reasonably priced 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
