Stolen
The other night, in the spate of 2 hours, my rear spare wheel was stolen in Highgate, London, even though it had the 'secure' Land Rover lock nut in place.
No damage done on the nuts and secure lock nut!
Obviously stolen by someone with a set of lock nut removal 'keys'.
Any suggestions as to better security on the spare wheel - preferably without a chain and padlock as they tend to be noisy on movement.

Yes, you can buy a set of aftermarket locking nuts which have different patterns. For example britpart product no's stc8843aa & stc8513. I have a set on my disco 2 Russell

A heavy duty motorbike padlock coated in poly plastic should be up to the job and not be noisy / damaging.

I like to keep a 'just legal' spare, as I'm sure most thefts are for the tyres. Alloy wheels aren't worth much to weigh in, so I can't see pikeys going to the effort of removing them for this. Rolling Eyes

Just put a really cheap steel wheel on as a spare, it would only be a get you home or too a garage spare, but unlikely to be stolen. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.
