G'day,
i was thinking about the same thing should I require a solid floor to sit in the rack. I've seen a piece of ply used quite effectively as its light and strong and readily available. I have some marine ply out of an old rubber ducky boat that fits together in sections that I will use when I need it for trips. Cheers |

Hi guys, these racks are made by safety devices and on their website in the uk they mention they do a flooring kit.
Might be worth seeing if they have a distributor in your neck of the world. You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things |

i have seen guys use form ply ( the black stuff) to good effect. its a bit stronger for standing on or heavier loads but is an abosolute
![]() there have also been reports that this mod can reduce the heat build up in the cabin by partly shading the roof. Cheers ________________________ Josh 2006 Defender 110 Double Cab |

Thanks Josh_WA, i've been doing some research my self and have identified another couple of options that may be suitable. I received this from a sign company; "Yes, the ACM (aluminium/pvc composite) we use would be excellent for your roof rack.
The standard sheet size is 1220mm x 2440mm and is 4mm thick, available in blk, silver, white for NZ$140+gst There are other colours available, blue, red, yellow and orange but these are only available in 3mm thickness and are the same price". Apparently its quite strong. Also a product called HDPE (similar to chopping board plastic has been recommended to me and comes in larger sheets, http://www.dotmar.co.nz/polystone-300/poly...eets.html. This is available in 3mm and 5mm+ options. I will inspect both options and measure them up. Cheers Defender 110 2011 |

separate fields made of 2.5mm AL would be a nice and strong solution :

The standard fitment to the Land Rover racks was a ply material called Buffalo Board. A Google search will give you more info. 130's have feeling's as well you know

I'm thinking of getting some Buffalo board for sections of the Brownchurch (but not all of it). Pics of LR set ups:
