Would it be possible to pop rivet the screw holes then apply touch up paint to the rivet heads to blend into the panel colour? or would this just look naff??

Some of the holes are 10mm. Had the alu ones welded yesterday and I'll mod the steel this weekend

What's the point of gaskets under checker plate anyway? If you've drilled a bunch of holes in the panel it's f00ked either way so why go through the effort to protect the paint under? You can't ever take the CP off to marvel at the tidy paint, you can't ever go back to stock.
