Ok, New Year and new faults
This is quite a collection of problems that might (might not) be related to one thing and any advice from those more electrically minded would hugely welcomed. In essence it's a main headlight/horn/indicator problem. If I turn the side lights on only, everything is fine with the indicators and the headlight flash, but the horn doesn't work. A dull warble is heard, rather than a buoyant toot. If I turn the main lights on, the right indicator doesn't work, the horn retains the warble and if I flash the lights, the RHS light cuts out. Also on the light cluster, the right hand indicator signal faintly illuminates. So, is this a wiring loom problem or a switch problem? At the same time, although I assume unconnected, the interior light does not turn on/off when opening/closing the driver's door, but continues as normal on the passenger side. And the reverse light has packed in. Like buses....three faults in a week or two. Any thoughts Defender chums? Splendiferously fantabulous New Year to you all Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Crikey, do normal cars have this number of earth's or is this a 'Defender' thing? Monsieur Le Grenadier

And the drivers side outrigger under the front arch to the rear of the arch.
Ooo, and they like to shear off if your not careful too. Biggest culprit seems to be the on on the transfer box which is the main rear harness one, it has all sorts of bizarre effects. It has to come off for clutch replacements and LR aren't great at keeping it clean and tightening it up. Then there is issues. I and it and if you indicated the whole dash lit up in flashes! Or brake lights or what ever. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Forgot to mention, and not sure if this changes things with regard to advice and first thing to look at, but it all started after I dismantled the steering wheel binnacle and in the first week I could toot the horn and/or whack the bottom of the switch lever and all would go back to normal. Also it would come and go when turning the steering wheel whilst indicating. Does this make it more likely to be the switch? Monsieur Le Grenadier

Thanks Martin, the shroud has been off a week, have looked at all the wires (without detaching them or removing each switch) and cannot see anything. Am wondering if it is a problem IN the switch housing or stalk? Is this something that can be asily dismantled, checked and replaced or could I lose all my lights? Maybe better to do on a day I can easily get a replacement? Monsieur Le Grenadier
