My 18 month-old Defender 110 SW needs the windscreen hinges respraying as one side is already starting to bubble.
I bought from Ripon (Farm Services) who used to be great, but since buyout, not that interested in Defenders any more and the body shop is now a separate company. York LR use a company called Drakes for bodywork who I really don't want to use (they replaced a wing on an earlier Defender and didn't align the headlights). I'm looking at Hatfields in Pickering - anyone have experience of them? Any other alternatives? Thanks |

I've a little body shop in Hull which I'm happy with - and a second that I was recommended but was less convenient... they have nothing to do with the dealer network tho. MY12 110 XS Ute, silver & grey now...

Hull's not the easiest place to get to from here (near Pocklington). I think I have to use a main dealer for warranty work too.

My son reliably informs me the X46 bus would fill your needs...
But Y - and a main dealer will probably be needed - I'm erm less negative about the Hatfields Hull than I was but dont have a lot of experience - they are not my sort of scene... MY12 110 XS Ute, silver & grey now... '75 109 fire engine (nearly ready to roll)... |

Surprised to here about Ripon Land Rover. I got mine through them and they were always good with Defenders when they were Ripon Land Rover.
Doesn't Llyods still use its old body shop? Ripon Paint and Body? Strange move as I thought they used them in the past, and I would have thought it would still be the same people at the body shop doing the work? What do they do now if they have warranty work like yourself? The only thing I had done by the body shop in Ripon was after the oil pump recall, the feller doing the work on it took it there to wax oil the sump as the oil one was. I can't comment on anything else from the body shop as I've not had to go to them. I had mine in for warranty work at Ripon Land Rover on the engine (front and rear crank oil seals) and I was happy with the service, and as far as I know it is the same mechanics/technicians doing the work at Ripon/Llyods Land Rover. I hope you get it sorted. |

The Ripon body shop is no longer part of the Land Rover dealer, but I assume it does still do the work.
Main reason for not wanting to go back was lack of interest when I took it in for its first service. I asked for a quote on a minor scratch. Heard nothing at all. Very different dealer now. Plus, it's a long way to go. Now thinking of just replacing the rusty part (discussion on another thread about some nice aftermarket bits) to save all the hassle. |

I've been using the Dealership since the change and I have had no hassle, as I said, give the Aftersales Manager a call, he is more than accommodating.
