Do a search. There was a topic on a black and purple wire behinf the rear right speaker panel. Already fused. I'm gonna use this wire for the rear work light.

If you use the wires behind the speaker where will the switch be?

Use a relay located at the back with only the switch wires going to the front

Not sure how to upload drawings..... here goes explanation.
Use a standard Automotive relay. - Pin 87 goes to the black wire (ground) - Pin 85 Goes via a 7.5A fure to the purple wire (12V) - Pin 86 goes to the rear working light and from there gets grounded to the Chassis (Not sure if one can also use the black wire to ground with?) - Pin 30 goes to the on/off switch in the dash and from there to a 12V source If This looks incorrect please rectify me.... |

Installed mine yesturday. My work light has a hidden switch on it and I have converted it with an LED globe.
I connected straight to the purple and black wires and it works perfectly. I did not bother with a dash board switch and the light uses so little power when its turned on I could not get a reading on the amount of amps it draws. |

Great stuff. I myself would prefer the switch to sit at the back. Soppose one could connect a dual switch. Back and front.

That's how I've wired my rear worklamps, so that they can be switched on/off from either the dash or from a switch inside the back door - Click image to enlarge The relay lives inside the R/H rear lamp cover and uses the existing Purple wire to supply the work lamps. The down-side is that you have to run 3 wires from the front to the back - 2 switch lines and one for the warning lamp in the dash switch. . I ran it from the roof rack to the gas bottle holder, then under the roof gutter to the door, pulled away the rubber and at the top of the door is a hole (that was there from the factory) which I threaded the cable through, then down the inside of the panel to behind the speaker.
I hope this makes sense. |

I fitted mine to the left hand side (viewed from the rear), as that way you don't get a shadow when the back door is open. The wires go throught the panel and down to the wires behind the speaker. You can see it, or not, in the picture below. The aerial has picked up some vegitation and that's where the light is:
