Sounds good - do you mean the fuse box under the driver side (off-side) seat?

Nope, mine is in the driver's side dash (under the steering wheel). Phil

I fitted mine on the bolt of the sunvisor. From outside it hard to spot it's there.
The wiring runs behind the headlining, where it is connected to a small 12v to USB converter. This wiring from there goes down the A-pillar to the fusebox and is fed from the radio fuse (which is on with ignition on). It is a Mobius. Very nice little camera with good programmable features. Starts with ignition on, records in a loop, very good video quality. I bought one off Ebay for approx. € 80, including an extra wide angle lens, cables and capacitor battery. Cheers, Vincent

Thanks Vincent. I keep thinking about buying a dashcam, and that looks incredibly neat.

I bought a lens extension cable for it, and plan to do an "invisable" install. The extension cable is approx. 20 cm, so should allow to fix the lens to the rear of the rear view mirror and the camera itself completely out of sight behind the headlining.

For installing a dash cam in the rear of the vehicle, the topic below was very useful. I purchased the proper power connector also from Polevolt as detailed:
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic9330.html?highlight=c1692 Front and rear combined dash cams are not that great in my opinion. You are better off getting a decent one for the front and another cheap(er) one for the rear as I have done. I went for a Nextbase 512G for the front and a Nextbase 112 Go for the rear. They obviously are not connected but should the worst happen you can pull the footage off both as required. Hope that helps. |

Do they not need to look through a part of the screen that is swept by the wipers?
Otherwise after a few days/weeks there'll be a load of dirt on the screen obstructing the view surely? |

^ would indeed be better. That is why I planned to do the install with the extension lens cable on to the rear view mirror.
Bu until now no problems with dirty screens, nearly every morning must clear the screen from frost last weeks.
