"Porn, gun and fetish sites blocked on council devices"
Gambling, dating and subculture sites have also been blocked since January 2014 Is this ACTUALLY news? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-38158312 Work supplied IT devices should be used for work related activities. Inappropriate use of work supplied IT devices especially during working hours should be subject to appropriate discipline action. No wonder many work places are banning items such as mobile phones from the workshop. Brendan |

I regularly look and respond to forum posts from my cnc machine at work.
When you load a plate of 30mm Stainless Steel, press start and then have to stand watching/ monitoring the machine work away for 10 hours you need something else to do. Not sure I could get away with standing and watching porn though..... Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

It's called click bait journalism, an outrageous headline to draw you in in the hope that you are then going to partake of other things on the site. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

If it's something that is in the public interest, then I guess it is news. However the type of article that can now be classed as in the public interest is so far and wide as to be virtually everything.
As for the subject, our company doesn't restrict access to anything but it is contractually covered if you were to "stray from the path", so as to speak. Contractual restrictions seem to be simpler to enforce and more effective as a deterrent than blocking selective sites, as that used to be our strategy. They do not mind us using social media, indeed I spend some of my time producing content for Youtube and the like so it is an intrinsic element of our marketing strategy, along with a gazillion other companies. |

Plus it doesnt take a lot to have sites a)miss classified sites and/or sites that arent actually wrong b)adverts classified as dodgy sites c)sites clicked on accidentally d)sites workers are actually doing work on, but are blocked, until added and authorised for the work activity.
All in a none news story that isnt really anywhere near a story - but im sure its an old story they have probably cracked out for christmas. Mike |

Devices are so locked down that using it for work or personal isnt a big deal - although i would love time at work to use it for personal stuff.
What isnt listed here is using personal devices for work - which is very popular too Mike |
