1988 speaker location/options
Could anyone recommend where to put speakers in a 1988 90? There is a hole bottom off side but it's too shallow for a speaker and only one. There were some mounted straight onto behind seats in their own frame but these are very old and not great. I have a pioneer mechless unit arriving any day now. Any ideas? [/i]

Under the dash, bottom corners using the spacer rings the factory used (they are cheap).

You can fit more modern speakers there you just need a spacer ring.

I made one out of a piece of Mdf cut into a ring and painted black. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Above the rear quarter windows is a good spot for speakers.

I fit in a pair of 6 1/2" focal with this kit.

Hi Kenners..
I've been thinking of the mechless unit. Please Can you let me know which model you went for and what you think when you get it in?
Currently I don't have any radio or speakers in my 90 but I'm thinking of using the Mud speaker housings that fit in the back across where the panels are to get into the wiring for the lights.
Nice install there CDN Thumbs Up

CDN38, where did you get that panel for the rear speakers? i am toying with that idea, plus it will be easier to run speaker wires there due to my fronts been in the roof liner. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I have ordered pioneer mvh-160ui ill let you know once its in, I hadn't seen those mudstuff speakers might be tempted with those instead. I have some front speakers from when I bought the landy 2 years ago that im toying with putting in the front with the spacers.
