Now belongs to a series 1 club member, he done ok out of that in the end, a gamble that paid off! It was worth digging it out the ground just for the side plate engine. http://www.lrsoc.com/forum/index.php?topic...#msg227485 And the video, which is great..... http://www.lrsoc.com/forum/index.php?topic...#msg227712 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

There is a huge thread on the S1 club forum about it from the day it appeared on EBay, right upto it being "dug up!"
I thought maybe non club members could see it, but obviously not? So not too sure now? Sorry.... 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Some effort they went too there.
So to the uninitiated what's the significance of it being a side plate engine? Have they established how old it is or found anything interesting about its past? 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |

The earlier 1.6 IOE (to approximately Oct 49) Engine's had two rectanglure side plates closing the water jacket on the right-hand side below the inlet manifold hence being referred to as a ' Side plate'
Many 1.6 litre 80" are without there original major components and thus more original the nicer.. If you can find an early engine that would cost in the region of 2k in today's inflated market! Serveal Components on S1 and S11 including Road Wheels, Distributor, Carburetor, Dynamo,Radiator were dated. Example 3/50 = March 1950 Working towards Carry on camping! |

Does it say in the thread what the plans are? Parts donor or a brave rebuild?

I think he's planning on a rebuild sometime! There was a lot of useable bits on it if not,and also I had a great afternoon helping dig it out
