fitting a double din stereo in a defender td5
Hi all,

I have a defender td5 (2003)
I am interested in replacing the standard single din stereo for a double din and was wondering if it is possible and also if anyone has done this.

Any info/advice would be appreciated.

Cheers in advance

I'm looking into doing this.
In my opinion they sit too low in the standard dash because of the angle and depth of the switches above. To overcome this I was going to modify a spare dash so the top row of switches sit flat parallel with the face of the centre dash. This way the stereo can be installed a good 30mm higher. I do think double din is the way forwards though Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thanks for your help guys.

that does look a very tidy job, I would imagine that the adaptor plate isn't thick enough to be able to use counter sunk screws... as I would like to try and minimise the look of the screws. However I do appreciate that it is a defender after all and it's not unusual to see screws and bolt heads.

Also like the look of what Jont has done with his double din centre dash.
