Are you getting 12v to the starter? If so give it a little tap, could just be a sticky solenoid. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

No idea Marsh to be honest, but will try tapping regardless.
Ha ShaggyDog, just the sort of daft thing I would overlook but it has neither. |

And so I thought I would just try the key again after 2 days of deadness and guess what, it started! Kind of wish it hadn't coz now I guess it is something intermittent . . . . . ..

! yes an intermittent fault is more of a problem than a consistent one as they are far harder to diagnose.
Ok well if it isn't throwing over when it fails it must be something in the starter motor circuit so best start there. I am assuming it is still doing the Glow Plugs? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Ok so when you turn the key to position 3 nothing happens?
Lights don't dim, no clicking from starter motor? That would to me indicate that the starter is not drawing power I would start small with Starter Relay, key switch, check wiring where possible. If not, then start looking along at new starter motor solenoid, new starter motor. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |
