There would regardless, 4* 55w lights is still putting out more light than 2*55w lights!

Time to resurrect this thread. Santa was kind enough to bestow me with some money that I can spend on the Land Rover, so I can start looking seriously at lamps.

I've seen three different lamps that appeal. For a road legal and most expensive option, I'd go PIAA LP570 LEDs, Japanese made and a company that has been making lamps for a long time. If I can convince myself I don't need the precious e-mark I've seen the Lightforce 140 Halogens are within budget, they're are a bit of a funny shape though and might stick out a long way in front of an aircon grille. As a left field choice, I like the look of the Halogen KC Daylighters, which look very compact and can be had in 100w and 130w flavours. Any views?

I also need to think about mounting. As I've got Aircon there seems a limited range of option. Can't afford a genuine soft A bar so I think that leaves me with something like this http://www.masai4x4.com/lights/#!/Bumper-L...ry=6475077 or this http://www.safari-equip.co.uk/shop/index.p...r-con.html

Finally, the wiring harness. I want the lamps to activate with main beam, but also a separate switch to switch them off if I don't want to use the. Does anyone know if there is a loom available that gives that functionality? Maybe this one https://shop.landreiziger.nl/verstraler-aansluitset-laag.html

All thoughts appreciated. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Definitely the Landreiziger loom - I have just had one delivered and it looks the business. You can get the KC lamps in a led version too if you prefer? I think I'll be going down the halogen route, either Hella 3003 or the similar Hella luminator metal. The 3003 have a plastic back body, but don't sit as nearly far forward as the luminator metal version, so I may or may not be making up brackets. Whatever you fit, post pics - I like pics Thumbs Up

Does Landreiziger loom brings the lights on off with the main beam once you press the button, or are they on all the time?

The KCs get a bit pricey for the LED option. I've got in my mind that lamps are easy to steal, so do I really want £400 plus hanging off the front bumper? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I've not fitted it yet, but I'm pretty sure with the Landreiziger loom your spots come on as normal with the high beam, but you can switch the spots off independently so you can have them on or not - but only with the high beam.

I tend to agree with your sentiments about having pricey lamps on display for some scrote to help themselves to. I had toyed with the led route, but decent halogen lamps have always served me well in the past, so I think I'll stay with this. Also, a minor bump could turn out very expensive if the first thing to go is several hundreds of pounds worth of lamps sticking out past your bumper. There are always security nuts and bolts to try, but they are still vulnerable.
