It'll depend a bit on your soil type (works really well on clay) but I've had great success just using a hose pipe, open out a hole under a mole hill, stuff the end of a hose pipe into it and turn the water on for a while. Eventually the little have to dig out to the surface ti avoid drowning and can be despatched with the aid of a shovel.
It can be speeded up if you know roughly where the mole is from the pattern of fresh mole hills and you can collapse/block the tunnel further back. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

Right - two Talpex and two tunnel traps ordered from here - http://www.molecatching.com/ - seems there's no live and let live out here in the country, it's a constant conveyor belt of dead wildlife...

Click image to enlarge That's quite alright - I can see the funny side of this but enough is enough, the blighter has expansion plans to rival the best. |

My father's had most success with a tilt switch, RF transmitter and 12 bore.
Unfortunately he hasn't quite managed to train the labs like his old he had as a kid that could pinpoint them underground and break their backs with a well aimed pounce. They do dig them out though. Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |

I've got a bit of activity too recently, a few scissor traps and checking / resetting a couple of times a day is no big hassle. You could even wear gloves so you don't spoil your manicure Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. Had 3 or 4 in my lawns by watching late morning near the freshest hill for another to begin appearing. Wait for more soil to start moving and then shoot the ground just below the hill. I creep close (less than 10ft) and the little moderated .410 is then more than enough gun and quiet around the neighbourhood too.
