It's just the way they are assembled. Some parts are bolted together before painting and others after.
If that's the only thing that irritates you after a year then you're doing well Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

Door bolts should not be painted. First time I hear anybody say that they received a new ex factory Defender with some of the door bolts painted. Sounds almost like for some reason Solihull, or more likely the dealer, did some after assembly painting. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

just guessing, but if it is a split colour on the body then one half was painted after assembly, either top or bottom.

Not unusual for a car to have retrospective paint at a dealer if damaged in transit.
Seen it loads of times Very unlikely they'd tell a customer, we never used to. |
