Injectors possibly. (Injectors possibly if they do need changing they'll need an injector learn completed afterwards.) ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

It is more of a maschine guns, ratchet noise

I wouldn't expect this sort of noise from a lifter or injector, this ford finest has only done 20000km since it got rebuild new injectors and all

But thanks for being with me on this one

Have you had the rocker cover off?

Cam carriers can crack around the bolt holes, worth checking out the camshafts too.
Ive had dealings with a transit with similar symptoms. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Piston slap?

Worn bores due to the piston control jets not working properly?

I note the engine is cold, so slap would be loud until it heats up, does the noise disappear when up to temp?

I believe there is a technical bulletin on that, I believe some early 2.4 TDCi's are susceptible to it and there is a serial number to check for.

Cheers
Andy

Knocking noise can come from a loose injector. Been a couple of reports of this on the angry pumas Facebook page..... 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I was going to say it sounded just like mine when it had the same issue - thing is, I couldn't see any up and down movement in the video ...

Did they simply replace the torque to yield bolt? Or do seals and check the seats etc. ? (injectors are clamped in pairs) Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

If an injector is loose, the seal should be renewed as part of the repair. Since the Puma has one clamp per pair, both seals should be renewed since it is unlikely that one injector only is loose.

If the injector is loose it is likely that the seal will be damaged either by the action of the injector bouncing up and down on it, or by erosion from expelled compressed gas and combustion byproducts on the compression and power strokes. Whilst you might get away for a temporary repair without replacing the seal, it would be an interim measure.
