[Auction] Charity Auction Nakatanenga Wheel Carrier
Christmas Charity Auction of a Nakatanenga black powder coated stainless steel single pivot wheel carrier.

Most people have their own favourite charity/ies and there are many deserving charities out there. Last year we had an auction in aid of Dravet research as a forum member's son was suffering from Dravet syndrome.

This year we are having a charity auction in aid of Multiple Sclerosis as a Def 2 member has been diagnosed with MS. Now if you are like me and do not really understand what MS is please take a few minutes to have a read of this

Now an email to Peter at Nakatanenga outlining our idea on a Saturday evening got a response within 10 minutes offering us a Nakatanenga wheel carrier at an extra special discount. Thumbs Up Thank you Peter

Normal retail price in the UK for a Nakatanenga post 2002 black powder wheel carrier is £625 plus delivery in the UK

In my opinion this is probably the best swingaway wheel carrier currently available in the UK.

This charity auction is for a Nakatanega post2002 black powder coated stainless steel wheel carrier with free delivery in mainland UK and close by continental Europe. This forum is mainly UK based however we are an international forum so for our oversea friends if you wish to bid feel free but we may have to charge for carriage overseas. If you want a quote for carriage just email us. Should you win the auction and are desperate for a naked stainless one or a pre-02 one, then that will not be a problem.

Get further info on the wheel carrier here

Auction rules?

Initial starting bid to be a minimum of £100

Other bids to be in multiple of £5.

Bids of £x + 99p etc not accepted. Any such bid will be rounded up to the nearest £5

Only Defender registered members can bid

Auction to start on Sunday 4th December 2016

Final bid to be 23.59 on Sunday 18th December 2016

If the auction winner is a UK taxpayer we would prefer the MS society being paid directly via gift aid. Reason being the MS society can reclaim the tax on it.

For information on Gift Aid read this. Basically the charity can claim 25% back from the government without costing the donor a penny extra

To aid ‘housekeeping’ 4x4overlander will edit this post with all bids so it is easier for people to see the auction results on the first post.

Please spread the news of this auction to your friends/colleagues etc.

Any questions ask away.

We have the wheel carriers in stock so if winner pays promptly they could have it for Christmas

IMPORTANT

Andy Doe has set up a just giving page here
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Andydoe

YMoney is going to the MS society. So if you wish to donate no matter how small an amount please do so. If you are a UK taxpayer the MS society gets an extra 25% from the taxman without costing the donor an extra penny

Current Total £760

How very generous of you and Nakatanenga.
I purchased one of these from you last year – they are excellent.
I would like to place a bid of £335

Irrespective of the final bid, I will throw £20 into your charitable fund.

Blimey it has only been on for about 30 minutes and 6 bids. Many thanks to forum users Thumbs Up

Andy Doe thank you for your comment about throwing some money into the charity pot.

Now OK, Christmas is about the season of giving.

If any forum members are thinking of donating to their preferred charity please consider using Gift Aid so that your charity can claim back 25% tax at no extra cost to the donor.

Brendan and Barbara, what can i say, i'm completely bowled over by this!
Having just returned from a very nice afternoon kindly arranged by Jeremy and Ang, with you and a number of other lovely forum members, i thought i'd hop onto the forum to see if there was any photos's from our gathering....i wasn't expecting to find this. I don't think i can quite put into words how much this means to me and other fellow MS sufferers.

To each and every forum member that has shown kindness and support to Greeni and I since my MS diagnosis earlier this year and, to now donating or bidding on the charity auction i thank you from the bottom of my heart.

In case you're wondering what your donation or bid will do for someone like me i'll give you a few examples; my MS treatment requires me to have a dedicated MS nurse with direct access, i require full blood screening every 4 weeks for the next 5 years, my 2 planned courses of lemtrada treatment costs in the region of £20,000 and that's just for the drug and not the inpatient care required, i will require full body MRI scans every 12 months, and in my case a drug called Filgrastin that kick starts my bone marrow into producing new immune cells....and what will all this do for me? Well it allows me to live my life and whilst there is not a cure for MS....yet, there are treatment plans like mine and there is ongoing research that any donations to the charity will help to fund.

As I have said previously in my original post that this forum and the people who post here are like no other, it is truly heart warming and inspiring, i am so lucky to have made wonderful friends through this forum and the fabulous world of Defender ownership. I send each and every one of you much love, much thanks and of course many, many 'Defender waves'! x

Raffles get very complicated and are easy to fall foul of the Gaming and Lotteries regulators. There is also the issue of transparency - this way we put up the goods, the money goes straight to the charity and no one can say we are diverting money that was intended for a good cause. I appreciate your sentiment though but it would just be too difficult to sort out as we are not professional fund raisers.
Regards
Barbara

Hi Barbara, as soon as I posted it I thought to myself a raffle would probably fall short of gaming rules! I therefore completely appreciate where you are coming from.

When did life get so complicated! James
