No, I didnīt expect him to do that. However, you have to admire Nico for quitting right at the top of the curve. Amazed by that and did'nt see it coming at all although Lewis and Nico have been very matey on Twitter recently. Maybe he just wants to spend more time with his lovely wife and daughter. Nobody knows as well as he what having a jet-setting racing driver for a dad is like and it's not as if he needs the wonga 😬
Best of luck to him for the future, possibly the powers-that-be at MB will build a LeMans team around him, that would be cool. Short term, I hope they give him a GullWing (or maybe even 722) for next years' Mille Miglia. I'd love to see that. |

I was looking forward to seeing how the battle continued next year, although it's hoped that MB will be far less dominant so there may well be more than 2 drivers contesting the driver's championship.
All in all it's been a mixed year end for F1, losing 3 of the most genuine and friendly drivers in the pit lane and gaining a bloody fast petulant child 
I wonder how near the front of the queue Alonso will be ? That would certainly be an interesting pairing after last time ! If Toto thinks he had issues managing Lewis and Nico, he'll be having cold sweats over the prospect of Fernando and Lewis being in the same team again  http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

Yep,and Merc is about the only team, maybe other than Ferrari, that could afford to buy him out of the RB contract. Can't see him turning the chance down. |

Surprised but not shocked. Nico had played second fiddle for a long time and with some fudgery and luck (or Lewis bad luck) he's won this year. I think Nico knows it was by the skin of his teeth and that it would take too much next year. So bow out having won.
Wait to see who gets that seat now. My bet is on an as yet unknown (to F1) young German. Or Vettel. New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info |
