Momo Quick Release Boss
Anyone fitted a quick release boss? Seems like a great layer of extra security!

I'm thinking of getting this one any thoughts?

You need only two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesnt move and it should: WD-40.
If it moves and shouldnt: duct tape it.

I bought the Murray Motorsport one as well and use it with a Momo wheel, very good piece of kit 👍

I've been considering one of these as an extra security layer and I looked at one (not Momo) at The Land Rover show at Stoneleigh this weekend. On the bottom it was marked "for off road use only", does that mean these aren't road legal?

Same here too.

The FCX supplied QR bears no off-road only mark - I hope that's not the case!

I've had several cars that have come from the factory with a quick release boss - no issue in the UK.
Illegal in France, and a "motorfahrzeugkontrollen" fail in Switzerland...but no problems ever in UK with MOT or insurance.

Just interested to hear if when the wheel is fitted there is any "movement" on the quick release boss? Cheers Don.

On mine (FCX supplied), there is no perceptible movement when stationary and grasping the wheel - feels solid & secure.

However, when hitting one of those Defender 'front wheel wobblers' (usually a diagonal ridge/trough across the road) I do get a loud clacking from the joint which was quite alarming and unwelcome at first. I have learnt to apply a little downward pressure on the wheel when this happens and it ceases.
I had wondered whether just a little tape or foam or something applied in the right place would prevent this, but it's another one of those little jobs on the list.

Overall, I'm happy with the extra feeling of security I have when the wheel is off and in the house/hotel/whatever. But there is the downside of parking up where you really don't want to look like a t*t walking around with your wheel. Yes you could carry in a suitable bag, but...
I guess the answer would be to have a lockable cover or chest for those times, but then having it removable was to avoid all that. Rolling Eyes

Has anyone got any pics of these fitted? Are they bulky?
