I replaced the thermostat on my 2.2 with the fan and lower shroud still in place. Tight, but doable

^^^Likewise, it was a bit of a b.tch to do and I ended up with sore knuckles and scratched arms, but I did it without moving the bottom shroud and fan on my 2.4.

Remote Hose Clip Pliers make it much easier!
