Before I go and book my 110 Puma in for it's anual service (2 years old and 15k miles), has anybody got any comments on the price I've been quoted by LR dealer in Ascot?
"Cost of 12,000 mile / 1st year service is £382.06 incl. 24,000 mile / 2nd year service is £494.31 incl." |

Quoted £455 and haven't even got one yet (12 months or 12,000 miles)
They said could go to an independent & it wouldn't affect the warranty but I would look into that further before I did to make sure the independent is excepted! |

You can use an independent for any vehicle and it wont affect the warranty unless they dont use OEM parts. You don't have to check this with LR, its law.

all they do for the first service is change the oil, the oil filter, check for rust. That's it. £455 quid is outrageous. LR customer service made a total balls up with something and as a sorry I got a free service and thats the only reason I took it to a dealer. It'll never see a dealer again unless for warranty work. |

I'll probably take it to the dealer this time as I also have a few warranty bits for them to look at, but next year (when the warranty will have expired) I'll definitely take it to an independent.
There is a newish one in Maidenhead http://www.berkshirelandrover.com/servicingandrepairs.php anybody used them? |

Not sure how close they are to you but I plan to use these chaps in Bicester when my service is due. http://www.marksmithlandrovers.co.uk/ My brother in law has just had some work done on his puma by them and he rates them and commented that they were reasonably priced too. Generally at my inderpendants LR guy, its a couple of hundred for a 12K oil change, and about £400 for a big boy everything. I keep meaning to do some of it myself but never get time, TD5 by the way.
I will never take it to the dealers, they are technicians that read faults, not mechanics/engineers. An experienced mechanic will be able to diagnose a LR knock by listening to the sound, whereas a dealer technician will plug it in, say no faults are read, say there is nothing wrong and charge you for it!! Just to compare, the service interval for the Puma in SA is 20Kkm/12 months.
I just did the 20,000km service and it cost me ZAR2900 - not bad at all. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Rob, 200 quid for an oil change? If you fit a sump plug from difflock - the valve kind and get the 90 degree hose it becomes a doodle. Oil about 50 quid, filter a tenner.
