Nokia devices ( microsoft) account for less than 1% market share now and will be withdrawn from the market early next year. You may struggle to get any accessories soon after that as companies stop manufacturing them. 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Oslo Blue

Agreed... .my "work" phone is a windows (microsoft) phone. only got it because it was a free upgrade and is faaaar better than the pile o' shte Samsung thing I had before.
But trouble is... hardly any apps available for it. not even basic things like BBC news.. as for specialised apps like CCTV viewing that I do at work, no one supports them (the usual answer when I ask any companies if they do apps is "oh, so YOU'RE the chap who got the windows phone then?" |

Nokia are dropping m$ Phone OS, but the Lumia will return but believed to be with android.
Windows phone is actually a very good OS, but app support isn't great. They where supposed to be creating support for Android, but almost close, never got there. Shame really! |

A lot of confusion about Microsoft & Lumia on here!
MS bought the Nokia phone business. Part of the agreement was that they could use the Nokia name for a period of time. That's now over which is why the more recent phones have just been called Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL. For some unknown reason (bad marketing), they're now dropping the Lumia name too. They'll be focussing on Surface as a brand, but still no clear signal about a Surface phone. MS aren't leaving the phone business, just focussing on business devices. They're finally starting to get some hardware makers to make Windows Phones. HP have some very good offerings. Part of the confusion is the merging of all Windows Operating Systems, so Windows Phone is no more, it's just called Windows. There is a new update to Windows coming early next year. This is for both phones and PC. Looks like we'll finally get some support for 'classic' (x86) applications on Windows phone, though only through Continuum (the bit that turns your phone into a PC when connected to an external monitor). This even works over a wireless connection - very impressive. There are rumours that the next 'phone' will be a different form factor to anything currently on the market. Whether that's going to me a mini tablet or folding e-paper is any one's guess. Yes, Windows is short of Apps, but it's not going away any time soon. Just the consumer side of things. MS have managed to screw-up a really good offering through dreadful marketing. Nokia aren't 'making' phones any more - they'll just be branding other manufacturers phones. Initial offerings will be from Foxconn. |

Trying to start a religous war??!?!
Latest stats I've seen (not sure if UK or global) were iPhone 20%, Android 80%. Rounding error covers Windows, BlackBerry and all the really obscure stuff. Shame really. |
