Your kids are under 11 so wont need to pay anything when travelling with a fare paying adult so don't worry about them.
The Standard oyster card is a decent bet with a refundable deposit and you can get any leftover cash you put on it back when you're done with it, plus the actual fares are cheaper per trip using the oyster rather than cash fares. Depending on how much hopping on and off the tube you plan you may or may not work out better off with one 1 day travel passes onto the oyster card, you'll need the peak travel one unless you want to wait until after 9.30 before heading into London, But for 2 days prolly easiest to put about 40 quid on an oyster card and either cash it in at the end or just keep it if you plan on doing London again. The biggest bonus you might find with kids using the Oyster card is not having to keep lining up to buy tickets at the tube stations with kids in tow, just use one of the manned entry points and the staff will let your kids through. 3 Landrovers |

One of the TFL adverts on RadioX advises that using a contactless card is cheaper than using a travel card, as there's a max they will charge you. Just make sure you use the same card each time to enter or exit a station.
I rarely travel to London so have little experience, but the above is the gist of the TFL advert. |

Oyster sounds good, as you say if only for not having to wait to buy tickets
Thanks |

^^ something to do with the charges being capped at the travel card value, I believe. So if your day travel pass cost £22.50 for as many journeys as you want then making multiple standard oyster charged journeys would also cap out at £22.50. (cant recall how much it actually is, used 22.50as a random example
The Oyster card Is one of those rare systems where you are automatically offered the best deal. If you only travel a couple of trips and are under that then the standard Oyster price x a few trips is less than the travel card cost. I'm no London transport guru by any means, Usually we don't go for as short a stay as the OP and the 7 day inner zones pass tagged onto an Oyster card that's got 30 quid on it for the out of zone trips like Kew or the in/out trip to Gatwick is more than enough. All that said , You can of course use your contactless payment card now if you want and still get the benefit of the Fare capping ! Not sure if the actual fares are as cheap as Oyster but for a few trips a day you might not want to even bother with an oyster card. 3 Landrovers |

We are heading down this weekend on the sleeper train to Harry Potter for my youngests 11 birthday. We will be using oyster cards for the kids and contact less for the adults.
Have used oyster cards for years as down in London once or twice a year with work. Always means you get charged the least amount. HP is great. This will be our second visit. |

^ Great
I was confused on the web site the difference between the family ticket and the the slightly more expensive one which just seemed to add an audio guide and paper guide but was around £80 more (for the 4 of us) Its a part present for my daughter (and the rest of us really...) |
