Firstly, I appreciate there may be other jackets worth considering, but my mind is made up on this one .. well, almost.
I currently wear a black bedale of the 'new' waxed cotton variety. I love this jacket but am after something with a bit more cover so I am looking to buy the longer Beaufort. The different pockets is also a big factor in the decision. Now comes the problem. I am after a green one but Barbour offers two different shades because they are two different types of fabric. I don't live close to a store to try them on and am solely going off photos. The 'classic' (sylkoil - olive) looks better new but I've read that it doesn't age/get the impressive patina that the 'original' (waxed cotton - sage) gets after some use. Can someone advise on this? If you have some worn in photos that would be great. I love the older style but to find one in good condition, second hand is difficult. Simon |

I'm not familiar with the jackets but if you fancy a drive out on the weekend theres a great Barbour shop in Cowbridge.
Plenty of places to have a nice Sunday lunch also. |

I've just googled, is it Arthur John and co that stock Barbour? Is so, that is great. Thank you for the suggestion.

Lots of advice/opinions on this thread.
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic44819.html In the end, I wanted the traditional look but with a bit of warmth so went for the "Duke". Great jacket but try them for size first, they come up smaller than think. I would normally buy a Medium/Large but had to choose XL in this style. http://www.barbour.com/uk/categories/mens/...xedjackets 1970 Series 2A 88" |

Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Thanks again Jay Boy
Luke, I have seen that thread before. I'll have to have another read through. I'm hoping the sizing will be similar to my bedale. Hopefully they will have some in Cowbridge to try. |
