Decent Mounting Point for dual USB?

Is the area to the left of the diff lock instructional sticker accessible? I would like to mount my dual USB socket there but unsure on
1. How to remove this panel
2. is there anything behind it prohibiting me from doing so

Thanks!

Why don't you change the cigarette lighter for one?

You can more than likely buy a USB cable to power your GPS, I have replaced my cigar lighter with this double USB socket:

It's a great bit of kit.

You could remove the main panel with the stereo and switches and then have a look there

Hardwire a power feed for it coming out the dash top, a lot easier and neat. No Guts, No Glory.

To get the facia panel out its only 2 screw and 6 or 8 clips.
Remove the 2 torx screws and the panel unclips.
Some people use small screw drivers or similar to lever the panel out but watch you don't do damage where you push.
It will be tight and the radio stays attached to the panel.
Once loose unplug the clock and any switches as nessasary to move the panel for access.
The plugs are switch specific so will only refitt to origional positions.

I don't think you'll get the USB outlet in your preferred location due to the heater box behind it.
Have look up in there from the passenger's foot well.
I fitted our outlet near the passenger grabs handle so the shelf below it can store the item being charged.
Piggy back of the back of the cigarette lighter for power and earth to keep the USB on the accessory circuit. Cheers,
Kyle.

Mind that most double USB ports are 2A. If you hook up 2 devices, it will supply 2A in total, not 2x2A. 1A wouldn't be enough for most larger devices like a tablet or power hungry smartphones that are working hard.
If I have a phone or iPod and my 7" Sony tablet connected, the tablet will only keep it's charge when I limit the number of open apps to one or two.

Mine is the blue sea double USB hub. If I'm not mistaken there's a 5A USB port on conrad.com.

Greetings,

Joris

You will know you're buying the 4.8amp instead of the 2amp because it's 2x the cost LOL

The one in the glove was specifically to run the satnav, but unfortunately it doesn't like it and keeps rebooting Big Cry James
