Anyone with a 110 csw about 6/7 yrs old had a look under the mid row door seals by the door keeps?
I presume they're starting to rust away nicely? Flamin joke... Nothing seems to have been done well on these things If only someone would start selling these things in kit form Put em together with a bit of tlc and a coat of rust barrier and a few extra coats of paint etc |

Mine were replaced too when trucks was less than a year old, bit of rust was showing low down, no further problems after that, and that means 7 years rust free seals now. Two years ago Olaf from Entreq did something to them to further secure it all, just not sure what exactly. I keep a close eye on them in any case.

I was kinda joking about the rubber rusting....I'm talking about the body work underneath rusting. And I thought I'd got it bad with my truck but at least I've never had anything rubber or plastic rust on mine.....not yet at least. poor guy. |

The door seals have a steel 'spring' for want of a better description, embedded in them to enable them to grip the frame. It's that that rusts. Darren

Thanks yes everyone is correct (and knows the score)...we have all done our public service and educated Caterham on how the seals work.
I did like the thought that they were attached by fair dust and prayer though As it happens the rust seep (the brown stain) does move from the metal clip (the hard bit of the seal) around onto the seal rubber...giving the look that its rusted, but its still the steal in the seal Mike |

Sorry guys if it's me but I was wondering if it's common for the body work that the springy rubber seal attaches to rusts and flakes off.
I don't really gives a monkey about the rubber as they're easy enough to replace |

The bodywork is aluminium, so no it doesn't rust - at least not in the way that you're thinking of. Darren

I think the mild steel in the seal should be protected by the plastic/rubber mix but its a manufacturing defect letting water in Mike
