LHD vs RHD engine, plus question on a 3.2l
I've noticed the odd article talking about Left or Right hand drive engines, but how much actual difference is there? A mate's engine may have blown up (mechanic will be taking it apart next month) and if so it might be cheaper to buy a new one than rebuild. Second hand engines are far more ex0ensive in France than in the U.K. so I may consider selling him mine at less than local price but enough to afford a new replacement Ford 3.2 diesel. But mine is RHD and his is LHD. If all the actual ancils, coolers, reservoirs etc are left in place, what actual differences are then between the two lumps? Anything? Or would this be a possible sale and transfer?

Also, given I would want to swap to a Ford i5 3.2l, I'm led to believe they carry the vast majority of similar parts, plus the brains talk the same language, but there remain some differences. So with this in mind what are the differences between the two that I would have to consider and have to cost. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

When I was looking for a replacement for my blown up 2.2 engine, I investigated the 3.2. BigSteve on here had one and I think Pete Bell did a lot of the electronics side of it.

It was a while back, but I seem to remember that figures around £10k were bandied about on top of sourcing the engine. I think it was quite involved, but cannot remember the details. It was also tricky to get hold of the engines back then.

Same order of magnitude as a Wildcat LS3 Whistle
