Oh and what do we think an average, but running and solid 2a might be worth?

A solid, running, fairy original, MOTd S2a is worth something...but impossible to say without seeing it.

Body is rough and needs a total paint, but it's all there and striaght-ish and there is an old tilt as well
Chassis looks very solid as does the bulkhead. Engine might a later Series III 2.25, (the block is painted light green, always thought they were Mil engines) Very similar to this one in fact http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1965-Series-2a-S...2174064345 |

I think light green engines were reconditioned. Darren

Diesels not so popular. I would always go for the sweet 2.25 petrol

I like the look of that - very honest. It is nice and straight, tub in particular. All looks original, deep sills, bulkhead. Bit of corrosion in the door bottom. The paint is just old and not mismatched due to it being a bitsa.
If the bulkhead (footwells and door pillars) is really solid and the main chassis rails (behind the rear axle and in ahead of the front axle) are solid then it could be a good buy. Any patches on the chassis or just replacement out-riggers / rear cross member? If the new MOT means that it drives well, brakes and steers etc and all electrics work and is in good mechanical order then it's probably worth a bit more than £3K. I would guess at least £4K but not more than £5K. |
