Had a day off work yesterday so cracked on with some LR jobs.

After a failed experiment with some front Dirt D-Fenders stuck on with Sikaflex (page 5) I decided to replace them with the Gwyn Lewis kit which seems to provide a lot more coverage to the body. I wasn't convinced about the looks when researching them, but now fitted I think they look good as they follow the lines of the body. Fitted the crossmember shields at the same time, nice and easy. Due to the glorious October weather they haven't been tested yet!
Oh and I'm going to fit the kit for the rear too sometime.

Then cracked on and fitted the Nakatanenga V2 Rear Door Strut. Impetus to fit this had grown after the door closed on my ankle whilst on holiday Big Cry
The instructions say you must have a heavy duty rivet gun, I don't, so used self tappers with thread lock. If that doesn't work, at least I can drill the holes out and fit the supplied rivets.
Had the issue where the rear door casing pops off in the bottom corner when closing. Cured that with a heat gun on the casing, not visible at all so no worries about that.
Works really nicely, looks factory and is easy to use - no harder than some hatchbacks. Well recommended

Next job was to fit the genuine LR towing electrics in the rear crossmember. My OCD has taken a whack by having to mount it so the badge is sideways, but that allows it to fully open so all is well. This is the 7pin version as I'm only going to be using it to power lights on my towball mounted bike carrier. More on this later.

Found this little USB powered flexi light at Ikea for £3! Useful for map reading and saves the awkward situations when pulling into a random layby and switching the interior light on Whistle

Hi
Andy
After seeing your 110 with the LXV sawtooths I decided I had to have some as well for my Orkney grey 110 and have ordered them.
The problem is I am unable to source any Goodyear Wrangler duratrac 265/75 R16 tyres did anybody find any available anywhere?

Guys, i recently purchased Goodyear Wrangler duratrac 265/75 R16 from these guys in the NW of England http://www.tyrz.co.uk . Great tyre, looks perfect on a 110

I noticed the other day 4x4tyres had Duratracs available but now out of stock again. These supply issues concern me, should you ever get an unrepairable puncture and need one in a hurry.

Also I note the Duratracs gets an 'E' rating for wet grip/braking performance compared to a 'B' rating for say a KO2, how do you find them?

Darcy Fairfax - lots of photos starting from pg 2! Thumbs Up James

Rear Recovery Swivel Shackle. I wanted something that fitted on the rear crossmember and was compatible with the NAS rear step. Saw this in LRO and gambled that it would fit which it does. It comes with a new shackle, but I've put an old one on temporarily which I'll keep inside the car until its needed.

@ JOW240725 - Yeah I know what you mean about supply issues, you've got to jump on them as soon as there is stock if you want some.
Regarding Wet Grip/Braking Performance, its a scientific/lab test and 'E' is clearly worse than 'B', but without knowing anything about the test its a bit meaningless; what is the test, how is it measured, what's the fidelity of the groups, what's the delta between 'B' and 'E' etc, etc?
Back in the real world, I've done over 10k with them now in all sorts of conditions, its our main family car and have no hesitation in loading everyone in it whatever the weather.
You can pour over spec sheets for ever, but I've made a decision and am happy with it.
BTW, JLR spec the Duratrac on everything from Discovery's to F-Pace's, so that's good enough for me...!

@ Christian1402 - Of course, the rear recovery kit is ebay no: eBay Item No. 252055177147
Didn't come with fixings, so I bought 4x ebay no: eBay Item No. 140694273175
I packed everything with grease on assembly and its all good.

Cheers all. Instagram: l90andy

Perfect, thanks Andy! Have you used it in anger yet? I took my tow bar off to coat the chassis and was going to replace with a nas step, but this seems a good enough recovery point to get me through winter without the need for a tow bar/step etc

I love the truck by the way, that scotia grey seems to change a lot depending on the lighting. Makes my silver look a little boring Sad

I had this set up on mine, above the NAS step using:

It sometimes got in the way using the step but overall was ok

But one thing someone told me...meaning i never used it in anger was:

... simply bolting a jaw & pintle style attachment direct to the rear cross member as so many Defender and Series owners do. In the end I decided against this method also as it easy to damage the rear cross member, even with a backing/spreader plate, during an heavy recovery

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green  Mike

That pic looks (to me anyway) like it had a d and b slider on it without any braces to the chassis at the bottom, with the two big holes at the top being pushed in. Ray

That might be true of that picture - but when i fitted this set up on my 08 90 at the time, there was someone showing better damage of that swivel.

I dont know, like i say i had this set up years ago and have played with refitting to the 110...but it makes me think each time Mike
