Shocked

OK so it's a NAS one with an impressive rebuild and has grown from a 90 to a 110 but it's a lot of money for a 20 year old car! That's about £175,000.

Cupboard, that is a seriously large amount of money. It hasn't even got alloys Shocked Laughing

I like it, but I am sure the current Mrs Rashers would probably not be too impressed if I bought it. Anyway, it's defective because the steering wheel is on the wrong side

Wow.

At that money once my 110 has been resprayed I could ship it out to America and sell it! That would be enough for a deposit on a 2 bedroom house! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Wow! Your right shaggydog.

Looking at that valuation at $215,000 and it's condition I have just realised now that my concourse restored 200Tdi must be worth at least a million dollars, must get on to the insurance company to change the agreed value. Wink

That would be enough to buy a two bed house here, and do it up!

Canada 2000 Defender 110 Td5 SW Bonatti Grey
It's crazy over here on this side of the pond, probably more so in the US than Canada as they can't bring in anything newer than 25 years, vs. 15 years in Canada.

It's supply and demand, also, the fact that there are usually no "comparables" to shop around. There have been some incredibly poor builds that have come over from the UK and sold in the US for well over $100,000. So those are pre 1990's trucks, all must have original engines and frames (so all the rust gets covered in undercoating) most of the renewed parts all come out of blue boxes (if you know what I mean) a quick cheap paint job goes on and it's sold to the US before even getting off the boat.(for big money) Usually described as "fully restored". People are eating it up as they are looking at all the shiny paint and LED lights, and Exmoor seats with new carpets. However, they have no clue about the rusted out frame and what's hiding inside the 30 year old bulkhead, or that if you drive in the rain you'll need a scuba tank to breathe as the truck will be full of water in 15 minutes.

Not to say the 110 that is the start of this post is poorly done, but all these trucks go for crazy money over here. And usually they are done on the cheap in order to make the most profit out of them.

I know this truck personally... it's nice by the standard of what's over here, but $85,000 for a 16 year old Td5? thats over £52,000!

There are a few very well done examples of restorations over here, usually all of them come from http://eastcoastrover.com He's meticulous, and expensive, but doesn't do anything half way. Pretty much only works on the NAS trucks. They are amazing.

Yup... it's truly mad over this side when it comes to Defenders... it's a Landrover thing...
