V8 parts?
I am curently rebuilding a 1988 SD1 rover V8 to drop in my 88" series 3 project.

Firstly has anyone any recomendations for part suppliers?
I'm aware that Craddocks do a fair bit, but would still like to find other outlets.
Who is your "go to place" ?

I am planning on keeping the engine fairly standard and within factory spec HP output, due to the nature of what it's going to power!

Any ideas would be appreciated,
Cheers 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

I used Lrdirect for my gasket sets, will be ordering more bits from them once the build starts. What parts are you after? 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Cheers, it's Mainly gaskets and pipe work, especially the rubber pipes for the flame traps, and carbs.

Most of it seems to be missing, and I would like to replace it with the correct parts, rather than bending straight bits of pipe to fit.

I've had It running on the floor, and it sounds quite sweet, i think it's been sat for many years, it needs anything made of rubber replaced! I want to strip it, hot wash the block and heads to get the gunge out of it, and go from there... 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Sounds like mine, static for a few years, stale fuel but still started and ran sweet! I'm going down the light upgrade route from a company on eBay, new cam/carb etc. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I'm hoping to get away with spending too much on it!
Im going to start it with an oil pressure gauge fitted at the weekend, so hopefully that will give me a rough idea of it's internal condition, I know V8s can suffer quite badly with presure problems, due to lack of oil changes.

I did think about a high lift camshaft, but like I say I would rather keep it standard.
Not sure how much difference they make to power gains?

It's the higher compression SD1 lump, so should be fine as it is for a series box.

I could do with finding the standard air box set up, but original parts seem hard to get hold of now?
I've been looking on eBay, and it's supprising how much they fetch Shocked 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

I have a v8, with new hi torque cam, followers, front timing chain and gears and big end bearings all brand new. Complete and been around the block ( literally about 400 yds )
It's a 3.5 efi and basically complete. Head gaskets gone. £100 as is. I need it gone. In case that may be any use to you?

I might take you up on that one!
I will have a weekend on mine, to see if it's all ok?

If not, I may be giving you a shout.
With the old EFI, I take it you can use any 3.5 V8 ECU?
This was my first choice of engine, and still maybe an option.... Whistle 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Well it's in the way, and although I have receipts for hundreds for what I've done to it, I was going to make a coffee table.
But I'm having a massive cleanse in the garage and getting rid of loads of stuff, especially anything that will make me more work.
No rush, no pressure, it's there if ya want it. Includes starter, alternator, MAF and a few other bits n bobs.
I can't answer your ECU question though sorry, not a clue! In fact I gave my ECU to a friend with a Morgan, as a spare to carry on his euro trips.

I've spent WAY TOO MUCH on land rovers in the past 2 years, so it would be nice to have a straight forward project!
Although I've just blown the budget on the series 3 with a new galv chassis... Laughing 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"
