Radio aerial swap? how do you remove it?
Hello

My std aerial is a little bent at the top and also I would like to change it anyway.

Is there a how to? or where do I get at it? ideally could I just change the actual sticky up bit for a new part or would you swap it all?

Thanks

Need to replace the whole thing.
You can eithe swap like for like or consider a flexible one?

I never ever use mine, not a radio fan so never been bothered.

Not much too it. Unscrew from the top, then push in through the hole in the wing. There is a "C" clamp which holds it in place but you can just pop it out of the clamp. The cable is soldered to the antenna. Unplug from the stereo end and tie a cable to the end so you have something you can pull back through the bulkhead for the new antenna's cable

If I remember rightly you remove the top nut and the whole unit can the removed from beneath.
It can be tricky to pull though the aerial cable through the bulkhead into the dash rear.

I'd recomend attaching a wire or similar to the old one when you remove to use it as a puller to bring the new cable and plug back through.
This would save you a lot of fiddling around.

The removal should be straight forward, albeit a bit fiddly, if you follow the above good advice Thumbs Up

Definitely attach a draw wire when removing the cable, otherwise it'll be a PITA.

You will probably be thinking about DAB etc., however come the time when my aerial gives up the ghost, I'll be either going for a genuine LR replacement of something like this:

Not cheap, but a good product.

I'd avoid buying something cheap and cheerful, unless you're not too fussed.

Best of luck Thumbs Up

^^^^ From what I have heard they are very good, yes, not cheap but quality cones at a price if that is your direction you'd like to follow.

Expensive is not always better.

This ebay one was well reviewed on this forum
It is amplified

I have the Bosch Autoflex which is amplified (unlike the Hierschmann one linked to above) and is excellent
