I don't think the switch latches. Instead, it drives a latching relay, which is in turn controlled by a timer. Darren

Mine latches, and if I remember correctly illuminates. Unfortunately that's all that happens as the heated screen needs repaired or replaced!
Nope, I'm wrong it doesn't latch, sorry |

Hi. Timed relay for the heated screen, as the others have said. You have the right switch

Heated FRONT screen switch does not latch - it triggers a timer unit.

Thanks Guy's spoke to the supplier, Seems they've sent me a Discovery TD5 Heated rear screen switch instead of a Defender one...

The timer unit is the same as used on the classic rangies (well, that's what I've got on mine). although mine has died, must get another sometime.
I might just get a generic one from durite, as the RR one seems rare and expensive. I also wired my heated wingmirrors into it (via a relay) so they come on for the duration of the screen, which is about 12minutes IIRC |

The proper timers do come up on eBay for reasonable money, I've had two from there. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
