It was for a few years!
Even used it as my wedding car.

Are people going above 235 purely for the look?

In my case it's extra height, the tallest tyre you can fit without suspension mod. Also narrower is better in mud.

I use the sadly discontinued Cooper ST Discoverer 255/85s. They are 50/50 on/off road. See me through Exmoor woodland tracks fine. Toyo Open Country are the next best nearest for tread. Also quieter than Maxxis.

The BFGs were designed more for rock crawling than mud plugging. Maxxis are good at the latter, more like the old Goodrich MTs Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

I am also looking for 285/85/16 tyres. At the moment I have 265/75/16 BFG AT. They look to small under my 130.
I do most of the miles on the road. Off road I drive in sand. Hardly in mud.
I saw the Toyo's M55. why are they not mentioned?
