United Kingdom 1998 Defender 110 300 Tdi HT Alpine White
TD5 alarm / immobiliser system
I recently bought another TD5, a nice repainted 2005 hard top, however it was an Essex utility company vehicle and is the lowest spec imaginable - not even a a radio, and no apparent security whatsoever. There is no fob and no obvious red led on the instrument panel - something even my 300tdi had.

After reading that all TD5s have some of the wiring or other parts of systems available, I'm trying to figure out what I need to do and buy in order to make use of at least some of it, if not the whole shebang.

If anyone can shed any light on the matter, it would be appreciated. Thanks 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top

Probably easiest to buy a s/h loom with what you require as due to low spec its unlikely that plugs are actually there. Remove dash and find out what you have.

OK, makes sense. When I remove the dash though, what am I looking for? 1998 110 300Tdi White Hard Top

See a similar titled thread also in the TD5 section just below yours.

All the connectors should already be in the loom. As a minimum you will need 2 remote fobs.

The alarm LED is part of the speedo. No point changing looms. 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

10AS green alarm ecu was fitted to every td5 as standard, even if no functions of it are enabled, it is still needed by the engine ECU. The alarm ECU also controls the interior light.

1. Get two fobs
2. Get bonnet switch and bracket
3. Get passive coil for ignition barrel
4. Get garage or someone with a Nanocom to program fobs and activate functions.
5. Use 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

Why not fit an aftermarket alarm. I paid £140 for a Scorpion supplied and fitted to my old escort. Worked perfect. And was a good alarm & immobiliser

This was the one.

You can add cdl to the lot by installing a relay into the 10as.
This allows for you to tap pin 2 and 3 to drive the locks.

Nec ep2 3n1s is what you need.
Hardest part is opening the 10as box.

I've done the entire project on a farmer spec 2002.

Volumetric sensor, back up sounder and bonnet switch optional. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.
