Hi everyone, i have a 2004 defender 110. Stage 2 alive remap and uprated intercooler. This week on the way to work when i get to around 70 the power goes, like its hit a rev limiter. Cant go over 70. Lift off the pedal and i have power again. Accelerate again and same problem. Cleaned the MAF, MAP, changed the fuel filter and fitted new silicone hoses. Tried driving with the MAF disconnected still the same, no misfires or lumpy running. Anyone have any ideas what to try next?

Might it be a problem with the throttle potentiometer?

My farmer spec TD5 has always hit the rev limiter at just over 70mph - I thought it was a case of TADTS '99 TD5 Defender 90

Looking at the RPM when doing 70mph a Defender should theoretically exceed 100 mph (where legal) without hitting the rev limiter, if it had enough power.
I had an Alive remap but sadly it did not work on my TD5, it produced huge clouds of white smoke. So l am back to standard. While not fast, we recently drove 1,000 miles up to/around Scotland and never really felt it wanting for power. Cruising speed seems to be 65-70 mph which is smooth and not too noisy. I wouldn't want to go much faster in a 2005 vintage 110. |

when my fuel pump and fpr started dying the 1st thing I noticed was a reduced top speed.
It wouldn't go past 70, then a few weeks later 60 was flat out and then just before it started screaming and died 50 mph and it was dog slow on acceleration I didn't notice for a while because I usually cruise at 60 but the odd blip past 70 to overtake 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |

You say you disconnected the MAF and it was just the same.
Do you really mean it was the same in all ways or just the 70mph issue? If it was just the same completely then your MAF is chuffed. |
