Anyone have any advice on something suitable to permanently get rid of White Dead nettles? Needs to be selective I.e. Not grass killing.
I've used what was Verdone Extra Now Weedol lawn last year, and will have to again this year for now.
That is selective and knocks them right down but as it isn't systemic so they keep coming back in certain patches each year Evil or Very Mad

Been looking at Grazon Pro, but it isn't cheap and has so many warnings to it etc I'm a bit put off. Laughing
It is however systemic so kills the root too.

Where this stuff grows I had sown some grass seed last autumn but the damned things have overcrowded that and took over again.

Pretty much got control of Ragwort and docks but the Dead nettles and Fat hen are more persistent, the dead nettles are my biggest problem as they are trying to spread too.
They can't be self seeding as I won't let them get to that stage so much be spreading by rhizome / roots.

Any thoughts?

Ideally I'd like to not have to be spraying anything but if I don't I'll end up with a weed patch not pasture.

Headland Polo - with one drawback - it's no longer approved for knapsack application which I imagine is what you are using? Steve.

I switched from Weedon to Dicophar and found it worked better for me. Works from sprayer too

Steve - I had heard of that one, good reviews too but didn't know about non knapsack use.
You are right, yes knapsack use for me not mechanical sprayer.
It's only just an acre or so for two small ponies so at least there isn't much work to it.
Even if I did have acess to a quad sprayer or something the area is on two levels in height tiered so wouldn't owe well to spraying with booms even if small.

Slightly off topic, but has anyone used foliar fertiliser at all? Often use granular on and off but most of the summer months when we have long dry periods such as now it can't be taken up.

I'm doing all these things as the paddock I have has need work on it to bring it into good health from being worn completely out.
Right now it's quite dry but the soil structure is improving over the last year or two with much work on it. Thumbs Up

So bought some Gallup 360 based on this thread and not sure I've got the dilution right as weeds seem to be living on after 2 days.

What dilution are people using for general path killing duties?

30ml to a litre, 35ml to a litre if you need it stronger.

I'd say 35ml - litre on knapsack sprayer.

Knock down time varies between different weedkillers.
Because it doesn't look like any results in a day or two doesn't mean you won't notice after a week or two instead.
Thumbs Up

Glyphosate-based products generally take a week or two to do their thing.

I sprayed off some docks last Monday (29th) with Roundup (Pro-Active 360) and when I got home last night they had started to yellow off. Another week or so and they'll be dead.
