We made a last minute decision to go to Burghley yesterday, so after sorting lambs for the butcher and market, set off. Got there just in time for the rain but still a great day out. Unlike other years where I've just admired the Land Rover Experience from afar this year we went on it. The kids loved it and I have to admit it is truly amazing and pretty scary the angles the current range will cope with.
Bumped in to HRH Zara Philips and Adam Henson on our way off the experience. Kids and parents also enjoyed the Remote Controlled Discovery Sport course several times, really good fun. No sign of the RC Defender even just all D sports! Best thing is it was all free so thank you Land Rover! PS. As expected nothing could be gleaned on new Defender except at least two years away. Wouldn't mention D5, only allowed to talk about current models. We went yesterday and enjoyed parking in a designated Land Rover parking near the Land Rover experience area.
We arrived early after reading about the likely queues entering Burghley House grounds, and the weather was lovely up until the first rider came though, at which point the rain started and continued until we left around 16:00. Shame about the weather, but still and interesting and enjoyable day out. |

Didn't know there was designated LR parking! Will have to be more organised next year.
We normally get there for gates opening time to avoid queues and park right at the front. This year as it was 11:30 before we got there we followed the Burghley sign (normal ignore and take first turn off A1 to Stamford) to the Southern car park, drove straight in but queued all the way out even though it was 7pm when we left! Haven't been for a few years, last time I went we were queueing from the M4 slip road at 9am!
