Ideally replace the panels or fill them in with weld.
Realistically I'd clean the area fastidiously, then bond on some new ally sheet to the outside, fill the holes from the top and underseal over the lot. |

I just put bolts back in the holes , no problems with water coming in but looks a bit unsightly on the inside. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Not an option... I want the back to look good and be flat so that I don't have to get creative with levelling it!
Option one sounds like a plan.... what sort of product would you use to bond the aluminium sheet to the tub? |

Why not plug the holes with rubber bunts and a spot of silicone?

Use Sikaflex if you are bonding aluminium patches over the holes. As long as you clean up the area to patch down to metal the patches wont come off.

I have had very good results in the past using 2-part epoxy to bond patches over holes in LR bodywork. For best results use a hot-air paint stripper to heat the epoxy to improve the mix and to accelerate curing.
Using this method I have patched wing mirror and other holes, as well as fatigue cracks etc, on my S1s which are still good 30 years later. |

I've dealt with big holes (like 2") with a bit of aluminium sheet and two part epoxy as already mentioned. To clamp it I drilled a small hole and put an M4 bolt with a spreader bar then left it overnight. With a smaller hole you probably wouldn't need to clamp it or could use magnets.
Small holes I've just stuck foil tape over followed by sound deadening. Last edited by Cupboard on 4th Sep 2016 9:06pm. Edited 1 time in total |

As above, I have covered these holes with ali plate stuck down with Sikaflex. They wont move..!
You might also want to check for other leaks before you put the storage in, and Sikaflex is very good for closing any gaps. Don't use silicone as it will eventually fail. cheers simon |

As has already been said, probably sikaflex or some sort of metal 2 part epoxy.
