Hi, I have not done it but you would need to get adapters for your axles as the Range Rovers and Discoverys have a different size thread on the wheel. Search around for wheel spacers...

Hope this helps

Jack has hit the nail on the head. You can buy adaptors straight off the shelf : http://www.simmonites.com/wheeladapters.htm

Personally I don't think it looks right... I am used to loads of Mud Terrain tyre rather than huge wheels and low profiles. Don't know how it handles on/ off road though.

http://simmonites.com/wheeladapters.htm seem to be able to get RR wheels onto Defenders - I would speak to them (though no experience of them other than sometimes falling off my chair at their prices).

Damn, must remember if I start to type a reply and then get called into a meeting half way through check the thread to see if someone else has posted in the mean-time.

Looks a bit too 'street' for my liking....

IMHO, of course. Wink

Suspect that unless you soften up the springs a lot, you will find much increased harshness on the road, greater propensity for punctures, and less grip off road.

Actually, the tyres on that are not quite as thin rubber band as some of the tyres you see on RRs, so maybe not quite as harsh.

Thankyou for your kind comment (the pre edit one) Whistle

Your right the ride is a little harsh but the SVX is quite firm to start with but it handles well (for a Defender) as far as off roading! check my signature! I don't need to use a limited edition off road it's a occasional spring/summer toy when I can take off the soft top and chill hence 1500 miles from new

Darn, knew I should always count to 30 secs. before hitting submit on a post... Razz Razz

Ahem.....no offence meant - And each to their own (I'm used to getting disparaging comments from local Defender owners with 200tdis, 5" lift suspension, Mickey Thompsons and bodywork held together with gaffer tape, just because my Defender happens to be new-ish and sometimes gets a wash!) Whistle Whistle

I take your point about what you use the SVX for - And fair enough, in that case. I have a friend with 18" wheels on his Defender, and he swears by them, on the road. I'd love to be able to fit some, but the roads are way too pot-holed and scuzzy round here to make the ride any harsher.

My comment about use off-road was directed at the original post, which asked what they're likely to be like off-road...

Cheers,

It can be done with spacers... Speak to Ian at IRB Developments (Porny on here and other sites) - he will be able to supply wheels/tyres/spacers - he has some fitted to his 90 Cool

You will need Adaptors not spacers although the adaptors will act as spacers.

Our 90 with 18" FFRR wheels.

20 inch alloys on a Defender ! Sorry but WHY ?

I got my stealer to remove the alloys and fit proper steel wheels before I would pay for my defender. Its never over in my land rover.

Shame that...... you could have sold the alloys bought some steels and gone out for a pint or two on the profits apart from that you can only get ice cream van tyres on the original steels Whistle

Fook just thought the DCPU has steels on Shocked I could have swapped for the alloys. Just bought some wolfs as well. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.
